As employers wrestle with rising healthcare costs, the latest solution gaining steam is to join a private exchange. Private exchange enrollment has reached 6 million out of 160 million folks who get health insurance through their employers , and that’s expected to increase to 13 million to 15 million by 2020, according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute.“Adoption is low at this point but interest is very high,” said Paul Fronstin, director of EBRI’s health research & education program, speaking at EBRI’s spring policy forum. “Will increased choice be positive for consumers? It’s so new we don’t have answers yet.”
