Voter suppression laws hurt all Americans

Voting makes us who we are as Americans. Our democracy is special because we value equal and fair elections. Manipulating voting laws for an advantage in an election is something we expect to hear about in countries with dictatorships. It shouldn’t be a problem in America, but unfortunately, it is. Our voting rights are under fire because some people are trying to make it harder to vote.

Voter suppression efforts reject the notion of winning an election through fair and equal voting. Instead voter suppression tactics attempt to win elections by preventing people from voting. The idea, essentially, is to create a rigged game instead of a level playing field.  The idea of voter suppression flies in the face of American principles of equality and fairness, and is a threat to our democracy.
